The New Bike Test 2009

The new modular motorcycle test was introduced from the 27th of April 2009. The practical test is split into two parts and provides a safer approach to motorcycle riding with a greater emphasis on rider training.

"Let us de-mystify the process!"

On completion of the CBT and the motorcycle theory test has been passed, you may then apply for the practical tests.
Firstly...

Module 1

This first practical test takes place "off-road" at a test centre. This includes exercises designed to assess the rider's ability to control their machine safely with slow riding techniques, also included are hazard avoidance and emergency stop exercises.

Then, and finally...

Module 2

This test begins with an eyesight test, safety questions about bike maintenance, balance effects and passenger carrying and at least 30 minutes of on-road riding. The examiner will be assessing the rider's ability to safely interact with other road users. Once the CBT and motorcycle theory test have been past, you may apply for the first of two modules to complete your practical test.

On completion of both modules successfully, you will then have your bike licence where you can take passengers, ride on motorways and remove those "L" plates...!
